A Fine Photographer – Winter Family Portraits in Colorado

Below are some of my vintage-inspired images from last week’s family portrait session. I photographed Kristen and Dillon’s wedding last year in December and they have since moved to Virginia but were back for the holidays! The bride’s family and I have become great friends, so we kid around a lot which made for such a relaxed and fun photo session in spite of the frigid temperatures that day! Here in Colorado we had a white Christmas this year as you can see in these photos, but today its in the 50′s again. Typical Colorado weather of course and thank goodness. I love the beauty of the snow and skiing, but I’m not a huge fan of cold weather, even after all these years.

Here’s a few images from my shoot with Sarah and Mac and their family last weekend. I’ve done their family photos since their kids were born and I can’t believe how much they are growing. So fun to see them every year! This year Grandma came along and we both had a laugh too.

A couple of weeks ago I got the chance to take a family over to Daniel’s Park in Highlands Ranch, Colorado, for a variety of family portraits. When we first arrived in late afternoon, we had what looked like an ominous storm coming on, but it soon cleared and we ended up with sunshine, which is typical Colorado weather (although this summer has been kinda crazier than usual it seems, even more unpredictable if that’s possible). Anyway, here are a few images from the session.

It looks like I’m making them climb on the side of a cliff here. See what we go through to get the pictures! LOL. It really wasn’t that steep.

Here are some black and white images from a family portrait session I did recently in Parker, Colorado. Not one, not two, but three dogs makes for a really funny session. We had a great time and I think I like the outtake shots the most sometimes. Especially when pets are involved.

I really enjoy shooting holiday photos for families this time of year. Luckily, we’ve been pretty fortunate with the weather and I’ve been able to do quite a bit of outdoor shooting still! Below is a recent session with mom and dad and the cutest little blonde sisters. Its always interesting to see which one is going to behave and which one isn’t when there are two kids very close in age. Wait a minute, they are usually both perfect angels because they love to sit still… too funny.
